For a change Jake Ryan Jersey , it was the Packers in a runaway.Aaron Jones ran for career highs of 145 yards and two scores, Aaron Rodgers and Davante Adams connected for two touchdown passes and the Green Bay beat the Miami Dolphins 31-12 on Sunday. The Packers (4-4-1) pulled away in the second half, sandwiching scoring drives around cornerback Bashaud Breeland‘s interception deep in Miami territory. Green Bay went ahead 28-12 on Adams’ 25-yard touchdown catch with 7:24 left in the third quarter.“This league has always been about big plays,” coach Mike McCarthy said. “You can’t score points without big plays and you have to make big plays to win the game.”Maybe this is the victory that will get the Packers going in the tight NFC North race following a choppy first half of the season.Jason Sanders tied a Dolphins franchise rookie record with four field goals, but Miami (5-5) couldn’t find the end zone. The Dolphins squandered another opportunity on the game-opening drive after Brock Osweiler fumbled away a shotgun snap. The Packers cashed in on that turnover, too, when Rodgers and Adams connected on their first touchdown for a 7-0 lead.“We turned it over and we didn’t take advantage of opportunities,” Dolphins coach Adam Gase said. His defense also had trouble slowing down Jones, who finished with 15 carries to give Green Bay some much-needed balance.A slashing style and an explosive burst through the hole make Jones a threat to bust a big run on any carry. He accounted for 54 yards of total offense on the opening drive alone.Jones added a career-long 67-yarder to give him 96 yards on four carries in the first quarter alone.“We got the run game going. We had a lot more balance, which we hadn’t had all season,” said Rodgers, who was 19 of 28 for 199 yards.Adams had four catches for 57 yards.BROCK STOPS HEREOsweiler was 23 of 37 for 213 yards in his fifth start for the injured Ryan Tannehill. Miami had 294 yards of total offense, an admirable effort given that they were missing three starting offensive linemen. But Osweiler was sacked six times, including three straight plays late in the fourth quarter.“Overall, I just need to be better and this organization deserves better because we left a lot on the table out there tonight,” Osweiler said.RECORD RUNA 9-yard run with about 3½ minutes left in the first quarter put Miami’s Frank Gore over the 500-yard mark for an NFL-record 14th straight season. He broke a tie with Hall of Famers Emmitt Smith and Walter Payton.RUNNING AWAYJones said he had about 10 family members, including both of his parents, in the stands at Lambeau to watch his career night.“It means a lot. I didn’t tell anybody, but I made this game for my parents. So now I’ve got two touchdown balls to give to both of them Lance Kendricks Color Rush Jersey ,” he said. “It works out. It’s a blessing.”COSTLY KICKSanders booted a kickoff out of bounds after his fourth field goal to allow the Packers to start their next drive at the 40, which ended with a 10-yard touchdown run by Jones.UNDAUNTED DOLPHINSGase said the team believed they could win on Sunday despite so many injuries, not including the ones that happened during the game. Miami forced two turnovers on special teams, blocking a punt and forcing Tramon Williams to fumble on a return for good field position each time.“That field position, we didn’t take advantage of,” Gase said. “Those type of things, you can’t do against this guy (Rodgers). You do that, it’s just a matter of time before he makes it right.”INJURIESDolphins: RB Kenyan Drake left with a knee injury the second quarter. … WRs Davante Parker (shoulder) and Jakeem Grant (leg) left in the third quarter.Packers: A defense already missing CB Kevin King (hamstring) lost two more starters in the first half when S Kentrell Brice departed with an ankle injury and linebacker Nick Perry limped off with a knee injury. Brice (knee) and Perry (ankle) had been on the injury report last week for other ailments. … OL Lucas Patrick (concussion protocol) did not return after taking a hard hit while returning a short kickoff in the first quarter. … In the fourth quarter, Breeland left with a groin injury.UP NEXTDolphins: Have a bye next week before a trip to Indianapolis on Nov. 25.Packers: Visit the Seattle Seahawks on Thursday. GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) — Rashan Gary is his own worst critic. Nobody is harder on him than himself. But the rookie outside linebacker is trying to not allow that to get the best of him as he figures his way in Packers defensive coordinator Mike Pettine’s defense.“I’m just trying to understand that if I mess up in practice, I still have a couple more team periods to erase it,” Gary said on Friday after Green Bay’s second practice of training camp. “But I’m always hard on myself. I’m the hardest person when it comes to breaking down my own film. But it’s a learning process. I know I’m at the point where I’m able to do certain things I know I need to do. I know I can execute.”Gary’s locker is nestled between outside linebackers Preston Smith and Za’Darius Smith. Gary said he’s just trying to soak up as much knowledge as he can from the two veterans.“Those two guys are just molding me,” Gary said. “Everything they’re doing, I’m following in their footsteps.”Green Bay acquired the two Smiths in March to bolster its pass-rush personnel. The Packers drafted Gary the following month with the 12th overall pick to do the same. With the release of former Pro Bowl defensive tackle Mike Daniels earlier this week, Gary could be asked to do more. The two-time first-team All-Big Ten performer at Michigan said that’s not a problem.“If coach wants me to play the 3 (technique), then I’m going to go rush at the 3,” he said. “If you want me to stay outside, keep rushing outside, that’s what I’m about to do. Day by day https://www.thepackersfanshop.com/Davon-House-Jersey , I’ve just been working on perfecting my craft and becoming the best I can for this team.”Gary’s listed as an outside linebacker but played both defensive end and defensive tackle while at Michigan. When asked what position he prefers, Gary kept it simple: “I’m an athlete. I don’t know how else to put it. I feel like whatever the coach wants me to do, I could do it.”Preston Smith, a fifth-year veteran who played his first four seasons in Washington, said he’s never seen a player at Gary’s height and weight that also has his athleticism. The 6-foot-5, 277-pound Gary ran a 4.58 40-yard dash at the NFL combine, the fastest by any defensive lineman in this year’s event.“He’s a good kid,” Preston said. “He has his head on right. He’s always willing to come in and learn. He loves to compete. He always wants to get better. … Being a young kid, I just try to tell him, ‘Man, don’t let it get to your head,’ because sometimes he thinks he’s not doing as good as he knows he can.“I have to tell him, ‘You’re still doing good, man. Just watch the film and improve on it and try to polish up certain areas of your game.'”The priority for Gary is just to learn. Learn as much as he can as quickly as he can. Gary said he has already picked up from Aaron Rodgers that he’s tipping some of his coverages. Gary said he’s talked with Rodgers about how to better disguise his plans on the field.Gary and the Packers’ first preseason test will come Aug. 8 at Lambeau Field against the Texans. The two teams will hold joint practices Aug. 5-6 in Green Bay. Gary said he will be keeping a close eye on three-time NFL Defensive Player of the Year J.J. Watt.“When it comes to people that are taking over the game — from rushing the passer to setting the edge and playing the run — having a guy like J.J. Watt come down, a guy I look at and watch his film, I can’t wait to watch him. It’s going to be a good thing. But I’m going to watch from a distance and make sure I take my notes on him.”Notes: S Darnell Savage (teeth), CB Josh Jackson (foot) and K Mason Crosby (calf) missed their second straight practice of training camp. … LB Kendall Donnerson left with a hamstring injury. … The Packers signed RB Corey Grant and DL Olive Sagapolu and released DL Eric Cotton. Grant was originally signed as an undrafted free agent out of Auburn by the Jacksonville Jaguars, where he played under now Packers offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett.
