Buffalo Bills at Minnesota Vikings: Fourth Quarter Open Thread
After pretty much not showing up for the first half of their Week 3 contest against the Buffalo Bills Authentic Kirk Cousins Jersey , the Minnesota Vikings received the opening kickoff of the second half, staring at a 27-0 deficit. Mike Hughes got the ball to the Minnesota 21-yard line to set the Vikings up for their first drive of the third quarter. It looked like the Vikings would once again go three-and-out, but the Bills were called for a penalty when Tre’Davious White was flagged for a helmet-to-helmet hit on Adam Thielen to keep the drive going. As the Vikings approached midfield, however, Kirk Cousins was sacked for the fourth time on the day to end the drive. Matt Wile punted it away, and the Bills took over at their own 20-yard line.Buffalo went three-and-out on their next possession, highlighted by a sack of Josh Allen by Stephen Weatherly. Mike Hughes almost fumbled away the punt return opportunity, but the Vikings recovered at midfield, and a penalty on the Bills gave Minnesota possession in Buffalo territory for the first time on the day at the 42-yard line.Minnesota went for it right away Authentic Mike Hughes Jersey , but a pass from Cousins to Stefon Diggs that could have been a touchdown fell incomplete. On the next play, Cousins tried to hit Latavius Murray, who got smashed by a Buffalo defender and had the ball bounce up into the air. It landed in the hands of Matt Milano. . .who, unfortunately, plays for the Bills, making it a turnover for the Vikings to end their best opportunity thus far.Minnesota did force a punt, and took over inside their own 5-yard line. After one first down, the Vikings’ offense stalled once again, as Jerry Hughes blew past Riley Reiff on back-to-back plays to force bad throws. The Vikings defense forced a three-and-out at the end of the quarter Womens Adam Thielen Jersey , and as we move to the fourth quarter of play the Vikings are looking at first-and-10 from their own 32-yard line.I’m out of words, ladies and gentlemen. The Minnesota Vikings are getting positively annihilated by the Buffalo Bills at home, 27-0, going into the fourth quarter of play. Stay tuned for the post-game recap and what might be the easiest Stock Market Report in SMR history.Vikings are Taking Baby Gloves Approach With Dalvin Cook Ever since Dalvin Cook went down with a torn ACL in his left knee against the Detroit Lions last season, the Viking have made sure that Cook has taken his time coming back from his non-contact knee injury. While Cook didn’t play in the Vikings preseason opener against the Denver Broncos or in the team’s night practice, he has been involved in training camp, but with limitations. That changed this week the Vikings hosted the Jacksonville Jaguars in joint practices and Cook played in 11-on-11 team sessions. He impressed all who watched but the Vikings still want him to take it slow.Head coach Mike Zimmer spoke to the Star-Tribune about how he wants to put Cook in more preseason games but wants to make sure he is 100% ready to go. “Each day we’re trying to stack on a few more plays, few more days in a row. That’s really what we’re trying to do, is trying to get him in game-ready shape.”While we all not so patently await the return of the chef Authentic Riley Reiff Jersey , making sure that Cook is game ready when Minnesota plays the San Francisco 49ers is the most important thing. Early season ending injuries like Josiah Price injuring his knee and New England Patriots Isaiah Wynn tearing his Achilles tendon are reminders that sitting Cook out for as long as possible is the right thing to do.Latavius Murray handled things very well last season. He rushed for 3.9 yards per carry, with 842 yards total, and had 8 touchdowns. Having Murray to carry the workload while Cook was out helped Minnesota maintain a rushing game. But Cook was going to be magical. In four games he rushed for 4.8 yards per carry, had 354 yards total, and had two touchdowns. Those are numbers that you want to duplicate this season and making sure that Cook takes his time coming back is how they will make that happen. Despite what all of us want, keeping him healthy until the regular season is what needs to happen. There are too many what ifs with having him play in the preseason. Our number one concern during preseason is that there are no injuries. And since the Vikings are unfortunately one down already, let’s keep it that way.
