Air Force One mesh
Sneakers and other athleisure-inspired shoes are still having a moment, and our feet couldn't be happier. This year, the trend is two-fold: It's leaning into true, sporty styles reminiscent of your dad's hiking footwear. From statement sneakers to the sport sandal like Teva, athletic influences will be a must-have for 2020, says Erica Russo, vice president and fashion director of accessories and beauty at Bloomingdales.
You don't have to be a total sneakerhead in order to get behind the look either: These pairs feel just as special as ceremonial bridal shoes, and come complete with grosgrain ribbon laces, crystal-embellished buckles, and Air Force One glitter-dusted soles. With plenty of things to worry about on your wedding day, a little extra comfort is appreciated; with these on your feet, everything from greeting guests to dancing should all be a piece of cake. Whether your dress has a bustle, or you plan on changing looks completely, consider slipping on a wedding-worthy sneaker; whether its one with a bit of glitz, or a custom keepsake from the day.
2020 is just days away, which means it's time to put Nike Air Force 1 your best foot forward on those New Year's resolutions and slip on a new pair of the finest workout shoes. Whether you plan to hit the gym come January 1 or just lounge around (thanks to the streetwear and athleisure booms), you can get away with wearing sneakers just about anywhere these days.
From Wandler's two-toned boots to the mesh mules from Bottega Veneta, today's modern iteration of the '90s style feels fresh yet accessible, which explains why it's gone from high-fashion to mainstream so quickly. We love it in a feminine, barely there sandal to give that minimalist look that was so popular in the '90s, says Russo. We also love it with a knee high boot that feels modern and fresh.
But thanks to the jolie laide shoe phenomenon (kick-started back in 2013 with Phoebe Philo's Celine furkenstocks), Tevas have become more than just a functional shoe in 2019. Not only are Teva sandals now trendy-a fact that recent collaborations with Anna Sui and Outdoor Voices prove-but according to Lyst, Tevas are the trendiest shoes of the year so far. The shopping website's just-released Lyst Index, which determines the hotness of a product via a proprietary metric that takes into account the habits of the site's 5 million monthly users as Air Force 1 well as social media stats, ranks Teva's Hurricane XLT2 sandals as the hottest women's shoe and the second hottest women's product for the second quarter of 2019. The website estimates that searches for the shoe increased 350 percent, compared to the second quarter of 2018, making it more popular than any stiletto or sneaker in the market. The only item to outpace the Teva on Lyst's report comes from-who else?-Virgil Abloh, whose Off-White Jitney bag ranks as the site's hottest item.
